An ND 400 filter enables you to compose long exposure images during normal daylight.
The image below is a 30 second exposure at f/22 with a Canon EOS 5DS R using a Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens and ND400 lens. Daylight shots like this are also enhanced by using a circular polarizer as well. In this case it really separates the clouds from the sky and gives the sky a deeper color.
